#2 Clare Maguire
So 2008 was the year of mystery. Who is Fake Blood? Who are The Golden Filter? It quickly became the in-thing to build up some sort of hype around the identities of the musicians rather than the quality of the music and I soon grew bored of it.
One such mystery has remained, having held me captive throughout 2008 and one that will (hopefully) be unraveled in the coming year and that is 'What does Clare Maguire look like?'.
Her management have successfully kept the rumour mill running and running, her Myspace page has received as many hits and plays as her contemporaries without her releasing a single track or even a press release.
Labels have been leapfrogging each other in a scramble to sign her and A & R's have been wetting their pants ever since hearing her demos. Universal have since won the battle and it's only a matter of time before the likes of Duffy, Adele, Florence etc are quaking in their boots because this is Leona Lewis/Amy Winehouse territory.

Heard her for the first time at Green Man festival. She is Incredible! The myspace doesn't even show half of her ability! Definitely in a league of her own, the best!
I sense world domination this year.
I only found out about her today, its almost scary how unbelievable she is as she is only 21, Star of the future for sure.
The kind of talent that gives you chills. Anyone who doesn't see this girl has massive potential to be a HUGE star is either deaf or stupid.
It's all about her voice, It's outstanding.
She's just been played on Radio1.
Best thing on the show by a mile.
Class.
I bloody love her. Genius. Amazing. I think this post deserves more than 6 comments.
I'm in! Only recently discovered her.
Methinks a life long legend is about to be born and we are witness to it's earliest growth.
Very exciting!
I'm more excited about Clare Maguire then I have been about any artist in years.
Can't wait to hear album
Really good talent...
Top marks.
Thanks X
She's remarkable I urge anyone to download the free Mp3's from her mailing list, raw demos but her version of Ray La Montagne's 'Burn' is out of this world.
